Though you only hear about the “Freshman 15,” grad. school provides another dose of the lb.’s. At first I thought maybe it was due to my casual approach to life…you know, enjoying all the extended holidays, breaks, etc. After much thought, though….I purpose it has more to do with the extended periods of sitting…as in 3 hour classes, research, research, research, writing papers, writing more papers, writing even more papers, studying, etc. So, I dedicate these additional 15 lbs. to hard work.
Even though there is no graduate school term for “senioritis,” there should be one, and I had it in a bad way. It’s a really good thing that I’ve finished my LAST class and have completed my Comps! (hopefully I passed, who knows if it will be graded this century). I almost typed “ever” after I mentioned that part about last class, then realized I would probably be eating those words if I did so, but just know I will be celebrating the end of this summer semester as if that word was in fact at the end of the previous sentence. (and I’m working on coining a “grad. school senioritis” term and adding it to Mr. Webster’s ever-growing list)
It’s really amazing how much better my grades are now. Shocking, I know….that paying attention in
class and not passing notes down the row of friends, reading textbooks, studying, and putting in just a little effort can assist with those matters. I have no idea how I made it through undergrad.

Though I never let anyone forget that I am a Red Raider, Baylor has grown on me. It’s the friendships, though….just as in any chapter in life. Regardless of where you are, it’s the friends you are surrounded with that make the experiences worthwhile. And, it does help that Dallas and Austin are only 1.5 hours away.
And I leave you with this…..a few Baylor highlights I've seen along the way:
Bed races...interesting "activity" for this christian institution. ;)
This made me think more of giving birth than of cycling. ha!
And last, but certainly not least....my welcome to grad. school.....my very own, personalized, intramural t-shirt, complete with a huge "69"....funny....thanks for the class, Baylor!
